John,

What’s happening in North Carolina right now is among the most flagrant attempts to overturn a fair election that I have ever seen.

Republicans have refused to accept the results of November’s state supreme court election — after multiple recounts! — and are actively challenging over 65,000 legitimate ballots in a desperate attempt to stop the certification of incumbent Democratic Justice Allison Riggs’s victory. They’re getting a major assist from the Republican-led state supreme court, which is allowing Riggs’s opponent’s anti-democratic lawsuit to continue.

North Carolina Democrats are fighting tooth and nail to uphold the will of the people, and we’ve got their backs. Because if Republicans succeed in stealing an election here, they will export this blueprint to try to overturn legal votes everywhere. We need all supporters of fair elections to support their fight.

Help stop this madness by splitting a gift right now between the North Carolina Democratic Party and the NDRC. Together, we are working every single day to stop gerrymandering and other attacks on fair elections —  for voters in North Carolina and nationwide.

John, as a proud North Carolinian, it pains me to witness what’s happening in my home state right now. This is just the latest in a long line of attacks on fair elections there.

Back in 2022, before the right-wing majority on our supreme court was in place, the fair maps movement won Harper v. Hall, in which the North Carolina Supreme Court struck down the state’s gerrymandered maps. But soon after Republicans took back the majority on the state supreme court, they overturned their own decision — allowing an egregiously gerrymandered congressional map that helped Republicans win 71% of the House seats despite winning a far lower share of the vote.

If these anti-democracy extremists keep getting away with their ongoing, intensified attacks on fair representation in North Carolina, you can guarantee they’ll be trying them in other states across the country.

Fight back right now with a contribution that will support the North Carolina Democratic Party and the NDRC’s work defending free and fair elections nationwide.

We’ll be back in touch soon with more news from North Carolina. Thanks as always for your support,
