public transport header

Please continue to avoid non-essential use of public transport where you can and try to use alternative travel ways to travel such as walking and cycling where possible.

If you have to travel by public transport please:

  • Travel off-peak if you can
  • Use contactless payment where possible
  • Always wash/sanitise your hands frequently and before/after your journey
  • Maintain a 2 metre distance where possible, including when waiting to board
  • Use a face covering, if you can, when you will be close to others

Do not travel if you are showing any symptoms of Coronavirus. For more information on Coronavirus symptoms and guidelines please visit https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus

Please check with your local operator before travelling for the latest information.

The latest travel updates

🚆 Rail Services:

Before travelling by train, please consider if there is an alternate way you can make your journey; current timetables are to allow key workers to travel and social distancing is being implemented on board, reducing capacity by over 80%.

If you must make a journey via train it is recommended to reserve a seat to guarantee your journey.

If travelling on a long-distance service, you are strongly advised to make a reservation beforehand as capacity will be limited and you may otherwise not be able to travel

🚍 Bus Services:

NCT will be increasing their services in operation from Sunday 31 June. Find out more here.

NCT have also issued some Safer Travel Guidance for Passengers. More information be found here: nctx.co.uk/safertravel

Active travel

Nottingham has a great track record in developing innovative cycle support services, whether you're an experienced cyclist or someone who has only recently taken up the activity since lockdown.

For more information on the different cycling and walking services we offer, please visit our website

The end of #NationalWalkingMonth may be approaching, but that doesn't mean you need to stop too. During lockdown you might have discovered a new favourite past time in taking a leisurely stroll, or found that walking is a more enjoyable commute.

Where possible, please continue to travel actively so that operators can prioritise public transport seats for key workers, and help to free up road space and reduce toxic emissions.
