At the Treasurer's Office, we are always looking for ways to serve better and adapt to the needs of our customers. Paying taxes is a burden, regardless of the amount, and I am excited to announce that we have reopened our installment payment program and relaxed the requirements.
Effective immediately:
Taxpayers wishing to join the program may do so by completing the online application.
Pre-payments may be made by mail at any time and in any amount up until October 15, 2020.
These newly relaxed requirements will provide taxpayers with the freedom to pay their 2020 property tax payments in advance, in an amount they are most comfortable with and as frequently as they would like. Taxpayers already participating in the program are automatically eligible.
Required by South Carolina State law, the Treasurer’s Office will provide an installment bill every other month equal to 1/6th of the prior year tax amount. However, customers can choose what works best for them.
If choosing to pre-pay the amount on the bill, the taxpayer may utilize any payment method most convenient for them. If a taxpayer would like to pre-pay an alternative amount or would like to pre-pay more frequently, the taxpayer must mail their pre-payment to:

Atlanta, GA 31193-2964
With the assistance and support of Beaufort County Council Chairman Joe Passiment, special permission was granted to the Treasurer’s Office by the South Carolina Department of Revenue.
Some existing program criteria will remain. Only real property and mobile homes with no prior year delinquent balances, are eligible for the Installment Program. Watercraft, vehicles, and other personal property are not eligible.
Customers wishing to opt-out of the program may do so
in writing by contacting the Treasurer’s Office prior to October 15, 2020. After that date, any pre-paid funds will be applied to the 2020 annual property tax bill.
