Friend,
In many ways, 12-year-old Sarwar is just like any other kid: he loves soccer, being outdoors, and playing with his friends from school.
But Sarwar is a Rohingya refugee living in a displacement camp in Bangladesh, where life can be difficult and dangerous. One day, while picking vegetables, he accidentally touched a live wire and was severely burned on the left side of his body. After being unconscious for two days, he eventually made a recovery from the burns—but the accident caused a cataract to develop in his left eye. For two years, Sarwar’s vision steadily worsened.
Orbis was one of the first organizations to address eye problems among Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh, and this kind of urgent care is why your first gift is so important. ([link removed])
Thanks to our donors, Orbis was there to help. Our team met Sarwar in his community and provided the sight-saving surgery he needed to remove the cataract from his left eye.
Friend, you can help us continue this critical work when you make your first gift today. ([link removed])
And in the year ahead, your gift will help save sight all around the world! You play a part in every victory we see—whether we’re providing antibiotics to treat a sight-stealing disease, training a local surgeon to perform a complex procedure, or bringing the best ophthalmologists in the world directly to patients.
When you give a gift to Orbis, you’ll help us reach more children like Sarwar. ([link removed])
We’re so thankful to have you by our side.
In gratitude and partnership,
Team Orbis
