In the United States, one of our most cherished hard-won freedoms is the right to vote.

This year, gathering in groups at polling places and waiting in line to vote poses serious public health risks, so the need for universal vote-by-mail has never been greater.

The Trump administration doesn’t see it that way and is spreading falsehoods about the legitimacy and security of voting by mail. There's "NO WAY" an election with increased mail-in voting will be legitimate, Trump tweeted.

Trump even threatened to withhold badly needed federal aid from states in dire need during this health crisis if they allow absentee voting.

Here’s the truth: There is no evidence and never has been that voting by mail is anything but safe and secure. Election officials from both parties have put safeguards in place that work.

Donald Trump and his cronies are trying to prevent voting by mail because they want to suppress and delegitimize voting. They’re setting up a false narrative asking voters to choose between voting and keeping themselves and their loved ones safe.
