On Friday at a bipartisan meeting of governors, Donald Trump threatened to deny Maine school children federal funding unless we fall in line with his personal demands. He even stated that he was "the law,” never mind Congress or the states.

I told him we’d see him in court.

Trump campaigned on bringing down the price of eggs, bread, heat, housing, and cars. Instead, one month in he’s threatening to use the federal budget to punish his enemies.

I want to make one thing clear: Maine will not be intimidated by the President’s threats.

We will not be bullied. But that means we need to build up our momentum here, at the state level. Democratic governors are on the frontline in the fight for democracy. There’s never been a more important moment to lean in and engage than right now.
