Dear John,
Nearly everyone has been personally touched by the opioid crisis, whether it's a direct connection, a member of your family, one of your friends, or neighbors. The devastation wrought by the opioid epidemic has touched nearly every corner of the country. If you stand with me in putting an end to the opioid epidemic, and ensuring a crisis like this never happens again, add your name today. One of the most tragic things about the opioid epidemic is that it is both preventable and treatable with the right programs and resources. While the federal government has contributed significant resources to this crisis, we have far more work to do. We are beginning to turn the tide of this epidemic by working together and pulling every lever at our disposal. That starts with investing in ongoing research to deepen our understanding of opioid addiction, which is what my bipartisan bill will do. This legislation builds on the bills I have already co-sponsored to combat the importation of fentanyl, improve reporting of opioid shipments domestically, and strengthen the federal response.
