John,
I just launched my campaign to flip California's 40th District, so I wanted to share more about my story and why I am running for this seat.
I hope you’ll read through this entire email, and if it resonates with you, consider donating $3 to help us fight for working families in the 40th District and beyond. [[link removed]]
[link removed] [[link removed]]I’m running for Congress for families like mine.
My mom was a public school administrator and my dad ran a small real estate office in Chino. Nothing fancy, just a family business that my grandma worked at, too. As a kid, I had my own little desk with a nameplate they made for me.
Everything changed when I turned six.
My dad was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma. I sat in hospital waiting rooms -- listening to doctors and watching my parents try and hold it together. My dad passed away in August of ‘94. Then it was just my mom raising me on her own – doing whatever it took.
My story is personal, but it’s not unique. Families are getting hit from all directions – health scares, kids struggling with mental health, pay cuts, layoffs, you name it.
What’s worse is that people like my parents didn’t spend their lives taking – they worked, sacrificed, and gave it all. And yet, it’s rarely families like ours who get the help. Meanwhile, the ultra-wealthy and giant corporations always seem to have the rules written in their favor while we’re told to just “work harder.”
It wasn’t right thirty years ago, and it sure as hell isn’t right today.
We deserve a health care system that actually helps people, not one that buries us in debt. We need meaningful relief for small businesses, not just corporate giveaways. And we deserve leaders who know what it’s like to struggle and won’t turn their backs on their communities when times get tough or it becomes politically uncomfortable.
I’m ready to go to bat for the people of CA-40, but I can’t do this alone:
We’re falling a bit short of our first end-of-month fundraising goal since launching. Hitting this mark will send a strong message that we’re ready to take back our seat at the table. Please chip in $3 today to build a campaign that will fight for all of us. [[link removed]]
