Friend, the ceasefire in Gaza is bringing desperately needed hope to children — and UNICEF is scaling response efforts to help rebuild and restore the services they rely on for survival.
Families previously forced to leave their homes in Gaza are now returning to communities that have been completely destroyed. Children are facing an urgent need for relief made worse by longstanding blockades on humanitarian aid. And the trauma and emotional toll of this war continue to haunt all who experienced it.
UNICEF teams are working around the clock to ensure that children have what they need to survive and recover — and a gift from you helps rush critical emergency relief.
Even as children return home, there is much more work to be done. Less than half of Gaza's hospitals are functional, increasing the risk of disease outbreaks. Water production is extremely low. Nearly every person in Gaza is facing high levels of food insecurity. And 95 percent of schools have been damaged or destroyed.
When you donate today, you’ll ensure that urgent relief reaches the 1 million children in Gaza who are displaced and in great need of humanitarian aid. Give now >>
In recent weeks, UNICEF has accelerated the distribution of supplies and services in the Gaza Strip, with more than 350 trucks entering within the first week of the ceasefire. This urgent response is bringing safe water, hygiene kits, malnutrition treatment, warm clothes, mental health and psychosocial support and other critical aid to children and families.
UNICEF aims to deliver 50 supply trucks a day through this first phase of the ceasefire with hundreds of pallets of aid prepositioned to deploy, and more on the way. It is essential that the ceasefire agreement is upheld to ensure aid and resources can continue to reach children.
The needs are immense, but Gaza’s children are still dreaming of once again experiencing a sense of normalcy: seeing their friends and grandparents, returning to school, playing with their toys and one day, feeling a sense of safety and comfort at home. We must make these dreams a reality.
Make a gift to sustain UNICEF’s work to meet children’s needs in Gaza.
Thank you for helping children recover,
