Dear John,
The Republican-controlled House passed the Freedom Caucus plan yesterday, that provides for $2 trillion in spending cuts over the next 10 years, funds President Trump’s border security and legal immigration policies, and strengthen our national defense.
While the bill doesn’t go as far as I would like, it is a significant step in the right direction, and it is vastly superior to the only $300 billion in cuts over 10 years that were recommended by House leadership just a few weeks ago. Much more work needs to be done to confirm the details of the spending cuts and to pass the same bill in the Senate, as part of the reconciliation process that does not require 60 votes in the upper chamber.
It is always all about the money in Washington, and the critical issues are 1) how much are we borrowing and spending, and further exacerbating our unsustainable debt situation, and 2) what policies are we perpetuating and funding that impact the lives of Americans?
Republicans in Congress must address the current funding of the government that expires on March 14, and should leverage this opportunity to further reduce spending and reverse the terribly harmful policies still on the books from the Biden-Harris regime. Republicans must also show the courage to codify into law the great work that President Trump is doing via temporary executive actions and Elon Musk’s DOGE recommendations.
I am continuing to do everything I can to be a leading voice in the fight to shrink the federal government, cut the spending, and protect our constitutional freedoms. But I need YOUR help today in this fight.
