This is just the beginning of President Trump’s plans to “dismantle gun control” in this country. For a party that touts its commitment to law and order, the actions of this administration could not be more in conflict with American safety from crime and gun violence.

Less than a week ago, Kash Patel was unconscionably confirmed by the Senate to be Director of the FBI. 

The FBI not only works to prevent mass shootings, but is in charge of running the Brady Background Check System. A life-saving system that has blocked over 5 million illegal gun transactions.

Then, he installed former NRATV host and MAGA podcaster Dan Bongino as his Deputy Director of the FBI.

Days later, Patel was appointed as Acting Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF).

The ATF is the only governmental organization in charge of enforcing our nation’s gun laws, regulating the gun industry, and is our primary defense against illegal gun sales.

Kash Patel is a man without governmental or law enforcement experience and shares an extremist view of the Second Amendment with groups like Gun Owners of America, who have called for the ATF to be abolished.

Confirming him to lead the FBI was dangerous itself, but ceding power of the ATF to him puts all American lives at risk.

This isn’t about politics, it’s about the safety of all Americans. Lives are at risk with Patel and Bongino helming our nation’s only defenses against the raging epidemic of gun violence and we must fight back.

Friend, there has never been a more critical time for our lawmakers to take action to protect and enforce our nation’s gun laws. Creating a permanent office of gun violence prevention will do just that.
