[link removed] [[link removed]] Friend,
We’re just one month into the new Trump administration, and we’ve seen one action after another that is as cruel as it is unlawful. That’s why I’ve been hard at work, bringing legal actions to protect Coloradans, our Constitution, and the values we hold dear.
When someone threatens our communities, we fight back. Right now, we’re standing up in court against the Trump administration to defend the rule of law. That includes actions to protect children with birthright citizenship, those who rely on critical programs like Meals on Wheels and food assistance that had their funding taken, and to prevent intrusions into our sensitive and private financial information. These actions were not just illegal, they included efforts to demonize our neighbors and put people’s lives at risk. I won’t stand for it. That’s why I need your help.
When the federal government flouts the law and harms Coloradans, we have a solemn duty to defend our state and our values. I’ll break down each of our lawsuits below, but first—can you pitch in to my campaign for Governor today so I can keep fighting for Colorado? [[link removed]]

This work is more than just about lawsuits. It’s about people, our communities, and the future of Colorado. Here are just a few of the fights we’re taking on right now for the people of Colorado:
1) Birthright citizenship: Imagine being told you no longer belong in the country you’ve always called home. That’s exactly what the Trump administration tried to do—strip away a fundamental right that’s been protected by the Constitution for over 150 years. One judge–who blocked this order—called it “the most unconstitutional case” he’s seen in 40 years. In a nation whose motto is e pluribus unum —out of many we are one—children who are American citizens by birth deserve to know their place in this country is ironclad and indisputable, and that no President can simply wipe away their citizenship with a stroke of his pen.
2) Our personal data: The Trump White House unlawfully gave Elon Musk and the so-called Department of Government Efficiency unauthorized access to the Treasury Department’s payment system. This reckless action was both illegal and it put Americans’ Social Security numbers, bank account details, and other private data at risk to Musk and his team. This action is not only reckless, it’s illegal. We took action and secured a court order to stop this blatant violation of our privacy rights, and to keep Elon Musk and his team away from our sensitive data.
3) Funding for Colorado: Trump froze billions of dollars earmarked for vital community programs like police and sheriffs, veterans, farmer assistance, Meals on Wheels, and HeadStart. The Trump Administration’s reason—to ensure that federal dollars are spent according to “Administration priorities”. This move not only violated the Constitution by ignoring lawful spending laws passed by Congress, but also jeopardized Colorado communities and people who rely on these programs to eat, heat their homes, and afford their healthcare. We’re fighting every day to ensure these critical resources are protected.
4) Lifesaving medical research: More than ever, we must invest in medicines, cures, and medical research; and Colorado is a leader in just that. But Trump slashed $90 million in funding from the National Institutes of Health to CU and CSU alone—again, with no explanation or basis in law to back his action up. This careless slashing of medical research doesn’t just hurt research, but it also threatens groundbreaking medical discoveries. I am fighting to restore every dollar of this critical funding.
Friend, these are tough fights for the future of our country and for Coloradans, and we’re making progress. The rule of law matters. Protecting people’s rights matters. That’s why I’m holding this administration accountable every step of the way.
In our democratic republic, we should be talking about affordability, opportunity, and progress—not whether a president follows the Constitution. I will continue to stand up for the rule of law and ensure that Colorado thrives. If you’re with me in this fight, please join me and make a donation to support my campaign for Governor today.
