John, we have some news to share regarding Robert Roberson’s ongoing case

Robert and his legal team asked the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals (CCA) again to grant relief based on significant new evidence supporting his actual innocence. This is Robert’s latest effort to persuade the CCA to consider the overwhelming evidence of his innocence and to overturn his wrongful conviction.

Robert has been fighting for his life and freedom as the state of Texas refuses to acknowledge the evidence of his innocence — and he remains at high risk of execution. The recent filing asks the CCA to declare Robert innocent, grant him a new trial, or at the very least send his case back to the district court for further fact-finding. The filing included the following:

New expert analyses that confirm the death of Robert's daughter, Nikki, was caused by illness and accident, not abuse.

Legislative testimony and a report that show the “changed science” law has not been correctly applied in Robert’s case.

New declarations refuting the attacks on Robert’s character, and evidence of the overwhelming bipartisan support his case has received.

With even more new evidence presented to show his innocence, Robert, his legal team, and everyone at the Innocence Project hope there will finally be a careful and substantive review by the state’s highest criminal court.
