Rich Wyatt, the new chairman of the Jefferson County Republican Party, is someone frighteningly into political violence. In 2018, he was convicted and sentenced to 78 months in federal prison plus three years of supervised release for conspiracy to deal in firearms without a license and tax fraud. Rich appealed this conviction and was given just one year in prison and one year of supervision.
Wyatt, who is a 2020 election denier, has suggested on multiple occasions that political violence was near."There’s no arguing with a bullet. You can argue about ballots, but you can’t argue with bullets,” Wyatt said on a conservative podcast in 2022. There is more to say about this guy, but we think you get the gist.
John, this isn’t normal.
In no world should someone who encourages political violence be elected as a leader in any context, let alone a leader of a county-wide political party. Sadly, the Colorado Republican Party has been taken over by the far-right – but we aren’t going to let them take over Colorado.
If there were ever a time to double-down your support of Colorado Democrats, it would be now. Unlike some Colorado Republicans, we believe our disagreements SHOULD BE settled at the ballot box.
We’ve got to make sure Colorado Democrats WIN at the ballot box in 2025, 2026, and beyond. We’re going to need your support to make that happen. Can you chip in a few bucks today? >>
