Friends,

Just weeks after some of the most devastating fires in our state’s history, Trump’s reckless hiring freeze is going to leave our state vulnerable heading into the heart of wildfire season.

Because of Trump’s hiring freeze, the U.S. Forest Service, the Bureau of Land Management, and the National Park Service — all of whom play critical roles in fighting wildfires in California and across the country — will be short-staffed.

These reckless and dangerous actions are putting Californians in danger, and I will continue to fight to reverse these hiring freezes

But the problems with the Trump administration go far beyond fires and California. His Cabinet picks include election deniers, conspiracy theorists, shameless loyalists, and friends of our foreign adversaries.

He’s handed huge portions of the federal government over to unelected billionaire Elon Musk, and given him free rein to haphazardly cut essential programs and access Americans’ personal bank records. It’s a disgrace.

His budget chief is illegally dismantling the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, which has saved consumers BILLIONS and protects Americans from scammers and big banks taking advantage of them.

And the unfortunate truth is that Republicans in the House and Senate are in a race to prove their loyalty to Trump instead of protecting their constituents.

But Democrats in Congress are fighting back. We forced Trump to backtrack on his completely unqualified pick for Attorney General, and are organizing opposition to his other radical choices.

We’re also using legislative tools and putting pressure on Republican Senators to stand up for their constituents and call out Trump’s destruction, and we are going to work with outside partners to litigate and push back on Trump and Elon Musk’s unlawful, unconstitutional power grab.

Friend, my office has been flooded with calls from concerned Californians speaking up about what’s going on. Thank you. It’s important to hear from you, and it helps me go to my Republican colleagues and demonstrate the overwhelming opposition to Trump’s MAGA agenda.

And I’m counting on you to stay engaged. To not just call my offices, but to call those of Republicans, and join your neighbors in the streets to speak up. Because it is going to be you — your voice, the voices of your friends and family — that will make Donald Trump and the GOP wake up and listen.
