Even down to the last minute, there were a few GOP holdouts. But Trump made some calls, and suddenly, they flipped. Just like that, the House GOP sold out their own constituents and broke their campaign promises to appease the Project 2025 agenda.
We are watching, in real-time, how far Republicans will go to put billionaires first and working families last. This budget doesn’t just gut Medicaid, but it also sets the stage for higher healthcare costs, hospital closures, and a weaker safety net for the people who need it most.
While Republicans are surrendering to Trump, Democrats are fighting back. In Virginia, we’ve expanded Medicaid under Democratic leadership, providing over 630,000 additional Virginians with access to healthcare. This expansion has been a lifeline for low-income families, seniors, children, and people with disabilities across our Commonwealth.
But if we don’t fight back now, Republicans will reverse Medicaid expansion in the name of their new oligarch-in-chief.
