In the Tongass National Forest – America’s largest – more than nine million acres are once again protected from harmful roadbuilding, including some of the largest remaining old-growth forest canopies in our nation, which are critical to salmon and brown bears alike.
And in America’s Arctic, the coastal plain of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge remains unaltered from oil and gas development, while to the west, more than 13 million acres in the Western Arctic have a chance to get stronger and more expansive protections against mounting interest in oil and gas drilling there.
