Last night
Republicans narrowly passed a budget plan that will cut millions of
dollars from lifesaving services for our communities.

The GOP said they’d spend the next two years cutting costs for the middle
class, but instead they’ve passed a bill void of empathy or common
sense—and one that paves the way for massive tax breaks to Donald Trump’s
billionaire buddies instead.

The cruelty is the point. This has never been about “efficiency.”

What kind of efficiency makes people sicker, hungrier, poorer, more
vulnerable? What kind of efficiency gives Donald Trump’s billionaire
friends more toy rockets while parents can’t afford groceries?

Those backing this shameful budget resolution are agreeing to:

* Slashing nearly $1 trillion from Medicaid, which 1 in 3 Massachusetts
residents depend on for healthcare.
* Threatening food access for the 187,000 people in my district who
count on SNAP to put food on the table.
* An over 60% increase in folks’ average premium under the Affordable
Care Act
* Massive tax cuts which will stand to benefit the highest-income
earners in the country, leaving the rest of us behind.

I’m devastated for the people of my district, Massachusetts, and the rest
of the country who will be hit hardest by this callous budget plan. I
spoke out against this bill on the House floor last night, and I’ll
continue to stand with the people, protect families, and fight hard to
make sure this shameful budget resolution doesn't become law.

shameful budget plan — from mobilizing the public on the outside and
