Here in Kansas, we recognize that providing life-saving health care shouldn’t be a partisan issue. That’s why a majority of Kansas Democrats and Republicans alike support Medicaid.

Today, over 400,000 Kansans are enrolled in KanCare, the program through which Kansas administers Medicaid. It covers 3 in 10 Kansas children, over 30 percent of births, and over half of Kansas’ nursing home residents.

Since its introduction in 1965, Medicaid has granted millions of American families the freedom to access health care without the fear of debt. But despite its overwhelming success and deep bipartisan support, Republicans in Congress just voted to cut $880 billion from this life-saving program.
