President Trump and his unvetted, unelected billionaire, Elon Musk, have been busy sowing chaos and confusion this month. President Trump is not focused on families and small businesses; he is solely focused on his extreme, out-of-touch agenda.
This month, I have heard from many of my constituents – both here in person in Northwest Washington and via phone calls and emails – who are fed up with the Republican Rip-Off. I hear you, and I share your concern and frustration.
The telephone town hall I hosted in February garnered strong attendance and engagement from the people of Northwest Washington, and that strong engagement is one of the tools we have to stand against this administration. When we push back against this Republican Rip-Off, we win.

Last week, I also hosted a roundtable with local healthcare leaders in Everett to discuss the impacts of Medicaid cuts on families in Northwest Washington. It is not pretend. Medicaid cuts will have real, negative impacts on moms, babies, seniors, children, and families. The stories I heard from the roundtable and the Northwest Washington community will help me make the case to folks in Congress that they ought to care.
The negative impact we feel from this administration is also felt throughout the country. In my role as a ranking member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, I visited Los Angeles to get a better understanding of what other areas are experiencing.
Alongside fellow Transportation & Infrastructure Committee members Congresswoman Laura Friedman and Congressman Robert Garcia, we met with community leaders and key stakeholders across Los Angeles to better understand how budget concerns will impact critical infrastructure projects. One of the projects at risk is the Los Angeles River Restoration Project which aims to revive 11 miles of the river. Along with critical projects at home like Skagit transit maintenance, improving rail safety and reducing congestion in Everett, and local sustainability efforts in Northwest Washington — people are feeling the pain of the Republican Rip Off across the country.

This administration wants to illegally cut funding to important projects like the Los Angeles River Restoration Project — all so they can instead give a $4.5 trillion tax cut for the richest Americans and wealthiest corporations, just as they did in 2017.
I know the road ahead under this new administration seems daunting — but we still can stand up for our communities and win. Continue to be engaged, and speak out when you or your community is hurting. Together, we can take a stand against the Republican Rip-Off.
