My name is Deanna, and I'm one of Jamaal's sisters.

Today, I want to talk to you about Jamaal, and why I believe he is the best choice for Congress here in NY-16.

But, before I do, I want to ask you to chip in to Jamaal's campaign. His team told me we need to raise $30,000 by this Sunday, 5/31, at midnight. Can you make a contribution of any amount so we can get closer to reaching this goal?

I always knew Jamaal was exceptional. As someone who's known him his entire life, I can tell you with great confidence that he knows his strengths, he has a lot of ideas, and he always follows through.

But, until he announced that he was running for Congress last year, I didn't realize how much his leadership, his follow-through, and his ideas were needed on a greater scale.

Over the past three months, in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, Jamaal has consistently shown up for our community here in New York's 16th District. He delivered meals and PPE to essential workers. He picked up the phone to call voters and check in on what they need. He showed exceptional leadership during a time when our actual leadership was ignoring our community, hiding over 200 miles away in Maryland.

I'm worried about what's to come in the aftermath of the coronavirus. As much as our city and our state have tried to help the working class, they aren't doing enough. Our leaders in Congress aren't speaking up for us, and that needs to change — starting with New York's primary election on June 23.

I'm confident that Jamaal will make an exceptional leader for the people of New York's 16th District — and I know others see this, too. I hope you can help out Jamaal and his campaign to meet their $30,000 fundraising goal by midnight on Sunday:

I am always proud of Jamaal and all that he brings to the table. Change. Progressive thinking. Moving mountains to make sure working-class families are treated fairly. It is not lost on me what he can bring to Congress, and I know that, together, we can get him there.
