[1]NNU - Medicare for All!
Right now, Congressional Republicans are advancing a budget resolution
that could lay the groundwork for nearly $1 TRILLION in cuts to Medicaid
through the budget reconciliation process.
They’re openly talking about making these massive Medicaid cuts as a way
to directly pay for tax giveaways to the ultra-rich, putting the finances
of the wealthiest few before the needs of the public at large. This is not
just greedy, but immoral and cruel.
The implications of this are massive. Proposed cuts to Medicaid will
result in tens of millions of people losing their health care. It will
also have far-reaching effects beyond Medicaid enrollees – it would be
detrimental to the ability of many hospitals to stay open, especially in
rural areas. These closures would impact entire communities, taking away
lifesaving medical services, jobs, and economic stability from their
communities. Other potential impacts include higher financial barriers to
care, less preventative care and early treatment of diseases, higher
opioid overdoses, and worse maternal and infant health outcomes.^1
But here’s the good news: We CAN stop this!
The GOP cannot make these cuts through executive action — it can only be
done through the budget reconciliation process in Congress, where
Republicans hold a slim majority in the House. That means it will only
take two Republican members voting against these cuts to stop them.

It has never been more clear that we must improve and expand Medicare to
cover every person in this country. Together if we make our voices heard
loud and clear, we can stop Republicans’ Medicaid cuts and continue to
fight for Medicare for All. We’ll be in touch with next steps soon!
