John, I grew up in a family with union roots that go back three generations.
My father was a firefighter and from a very young age, he taught me that you have to work hard for everything — but you also have to hold the ladder so the next person has the opportunity to climb.
Those are the values I’ve carried with me my entire career in public service.
Before I became a member of Congress, I served in Oregon’s state legislature. I was elected to the position of Majority Leader and increased the state’s minimum wage, provided paid sick leave for workers, passed a first-in-the-nation requirement for health insurers to cover 12-month supplies of birth control, and more.

I was then elected as Oregon’s Labor Commissioner in 2018. I worked hard to ensure workers were paid the wages and benefits that they earned, oversaw the enforcement of civil rights and housing discrimination protections for Oregonians, and fought to expand unemployment benefits during the pandemic.
Now, I’m fighting the same fight in Congress to make a difference for working families and communities across Oregon. As a working mom, I’ve seen and experienced the struggles Oregon’s families face — and I’m determined to stand up for families and work with anyone to pass common sense ways to bring prices down and drive wages up.
But I can’t do it alone, John. I need you to fight alongside me and help me make real progress for working families. Can you chip in a donation ahead of my upcoming end-of-month fundraising deadline to power this important work? [[link removed]]
