I’ve prioritized people-centered values during my first term in Congress - just as I did when I served as an Illinois State Representative. I’ve introduced legislation with bipartisan support to help student veterans, have been co-leading the Dream and Promise Act, and I co-led the introduction of legislation to create a Green New Deal for Public Housing with Rep. Ocasio Cortez & Sen. Sanders. I have championed Medicare for all, a Ceasefire in Gaza, and stood up against the corrupting influence of big money in politics.
I know that fighting for our community means fighting for the issues we all care about, and I have shaped my priorities around our needs. I am clear that I was elected to serve working people, not corporate donors or special interests. That is the vision we need if we’re to stand up against the harmful white supremacist policies flowing out of the Trump administration.
