Last week, the official White House page posted a photo of Trump wearing a crown with the phrase, “long live the king.”
Since the GOP has clearly forgotten (or never bothered to learn) our nation’s history, let me give them a quick lesson. If you already know about our nation’s history, feel free to skip this email and chip in $25 here to help me continue pushing back on the far-right’s anti-democratic agenda! [[link removed]]

So, there was this event during the second half of the 18th century before the United States of America was an established nation. Does the Revolutionary War ring a bell? It may sound familiar.
Well, in this war, the thirteen colonies on American soil fought against the British monarchy. The British forced the colonies to pay taxes without offering any governance, protections, or benefits.
It took eight years of battle, but the cost of freedom was priceless.
After America won, a group of gentlemen known as our country’s Founding Fathers, sat down and wrote this thing called The Constitution — establishing a democracy and swearing that the new United States would never have a king.
To this very day, the United States is a democracy, not a monarchy. We started (and won) a war 225 years ago to guarantee that a king would never rule our country.
Yet, here we are — Donald Trump is declaring himself a king and savior. But let me be clear: He’s no king, he’s a tyrant.
Absolute power isn’t how we do things in America, and I sure as hell won’t start bowing down to Trump now or ever. To help save our democracy (and continue with the education lessons) will you pitch in $25 today? [[link removed]]
