At the Center for Reproductive Rights, we’re fighting to protect and advance reproductive freedom worldwide. From confronting restrictive abortion policies to championing equity on the global stage, we are dedicated to creating a future where everyone has access to the health care they deserve. The Global Gag Rule Returns. What It Means and How We Fight Back. [[link removed]]
The Trump administration has reinstated the Global Gag Rule, once again cutting off access to essential reproductive health care worldwide. This harmful policy forces organizations outside the U.S. that receive U.S. funding to choose between severely restricting abortion-related care and counseling or losing critical financial support.
In response, the Center for Reproductive Rights has relaunched its Global Gag Rule Pro Bono Clearinghouse [[link removed]] , a legal support initiative mobilizing top law firms to help affected non-governmental organizations (NGOs) navigate compliance challenges and continue their critical and often lifesaving work.
We also want to ensure our supporters have the information they need to understand what's ahead—and how to take action. Join us for a special webinar [[link removed]] on Wednesday, March 5 at 2pm ET , where Mariakarla Nodarse Venancio, the Center's Global Advocacy Adviser , will break down the policy's impact and what comes next. Don't miss this opportunity to gain insight and take action in the fight for reproductive rights.

New York's Strengthened Shield Law Will Further Protect Doctors Prescribing Abortion Medication [[link removed]]
With assistance from the Center for Reproductive Rights, New York State has strengthened its telehealth shield law to further protect doctors prescribing abortion medication. Under the new law, signed February 3 by Governor Kathy Hochul, providers prescribing abortion medication can request that a dispensing pharmacy print their practice’s name on the prescription bottle label instead of their name–making it more difficult for other states to target New York doctors.
Many people living in states with abortion bans or restrictions are unable to travel for abortion care, and telehealth has been a lifeline for those people. Shield laws protect abortion providers, helpers, and patient medical records when care is provided to out-of-state residents. These laws are increasingly important under the anti-rights Trump administration that is emboldening state officials to prosecute doctors.
The Center played a leading role in supporting shield laws across the U.S– these laws are currently on the books in 18 states and the District of Columbia. We pushed for these laws to protect not only doctors treating patients who travel from other states, but doctors providing care via telemedicine.
