Neighbors,

This week, the Committee on Business and Economic Development held a performance oversight hearing, where we heard from the Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO), the Office of Lottery and Gaming (OLG), and the Department of Small and Local Business Development (DSLBD). We discussed the District’s fiscal outlook, gaming industry oversight, and efforts to support small and local businesses.

Next Wednesday, February 26th, we will hold our final performance oversight hearing, featuring testimony from the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development (DMPED), the Office of the People’s Counsel (OPC), and the Office of Nightlife and Culture (ONC). These agencies play a key role in economic growth, consumer protection, and the vibrancy of our nightlife sector.

Although the public witness hearing took place on February 5th, my team is still reviewing testimony, and residents can submit written testimony until March 7th via the Council website. Your input is critical in shaping policies that support businesses and workers across the District.

As always, my office is here to listen and assist.

In service,
Kenyan
