When we started this campaign, we knew we could overcome our opponent’s incumbency advantage only with an incredible grassroots effort to connect to voters. While Covid-19 has stopped us from canvassing, which is how we aimed to do so, we can still accomplish our goal with your help.

Instead of canvassing, volunteers make phone calls every day. Research from top scholars and lessons from recent successful campaigns shows that the single best way to win voters is to talk to them. 

The math is simple. We expect 60,000 voters in Berkeley on election day, November 3, 2020. We need 50+% of them to win. That means if we have meaningful conversations with 40,000+ voters -- half the population of registered voters in Berkeley -- victory is almost guaranteed. However, we cannot reach these voters without your help. 

To win, we need to harness the latest technology, including a “predictive dialer.” This system filters out broken numbers and connects volunteers straight to voters. It isn’t cheap, but if you can contribute just $20, we will be a step closer to purchasing this $2000 service.
