Donald Trump is attempting to SHUTDOWN the Department of Education

I literally cannot believe the news sometimes. This assault on our families and our future is egregious — Trump has taken his overreach too far.

However, I do feel some hope because we have leaders like Madeleine. Earlier this month the Appropriations Committee had a hearing on Trump’s proposed cuts to the Department of Education and Department of Labor and what that means for community colleges and specialized education.

She feels strongly you need to know what is going on so she wanted me to share some of her notes from the recent hearing…

Notes from Mad

Community colleges and career readiness programs are the key drivers of economic mobility in our country — cutting funding will cause irreversible damage.
Mad and the committee are preparing to defend the Department of Education and the Department of Labor to ensure these devastating impacts will be managed and stopped.
They’re going to be shining a light on and uplifting stories about how federal support for community colleges and job seekers is under attack by President Trump, House Republicans, and their billionaire allies.

We know everyone has a personal connection to all that is swirling in the news right now. Nerves are high and we applaud the courage we see on a daily basis of folks like you sharing your story. Politics is personal. What happens on the Hill or in the White House has serious ripple effects on our lives and communities.

If you have a personal story to share with Mad and our team, we invite you to submit it here. [[link removed]]

We’ll continue to keep you posted on what’s going down in the executive and legislative branches.

Thanks,

Bill
