I won't lie, folks, I'm worried for the future of our health care.

Recently, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was confirmed as Secretary of Health and Human Services. Not only is his anti-vaxx and anti-science beliefs dangerous, but his belief that Black Americans need different health care than white Americans.

Right now, I'm thinking about my late husband Charles who unexpectedly passed away from blood clots. His medical team worked around the clock and ensured the best care not based on his skin color, but the goal of helping him get better.

I'm thinking of other Americans who look like me and the disadvantage we're at to get equitable health care. Our concerns are often dismissed because of lack of representation in health care.

The Secretary of Health of Human Services cannot lead medical decisions based on unfounded science and racist beliefs. We cannot trust him to keep all Americans safe, healthy, and covered by insurance.

As Senator, I will continue to fight for affordable, accessible health care for all Americans – including those who look like me, and I will challenge every effort by RFK Jr. to dismantle our health care system.
