Friend,
Yesterday was a busy day in the Senate, and Elissa was working on a wide range of issues.
In the afternoon, Elissa joined Christiane Amanpour on CNN for a conversation about President Trump’s Ukraine policy. As she said – “if you’re Putin, you’re popping champagne in Moscow.” Check it out here:

Starting in the evening, Elissa pulled an all-nighter in the Senate, participating in what’s called a “vote-a-rama.”
When a budget bill is brought to the floor of the Senate, each Senator has the ability to introduce as many amendments as they’d like, leading to a long, sometimes all-night process of voting.
In this case, Republicans brought a budget resolution to the floor with all sorts of cuts – and Senate Democrats took the opportunity to try to block some of the things that would bring economic or physical harm to Americans.
Elissa’s amendment? A 1:00 am proposal to ensure no cuts to any staff or programs that are currently responding to avian flu – but it was blocked by the Republicans.
The final GOP budget that passed, in the 4:00 am hour, is going to make big cuts to programs that are important to Michiganders, and enact tax policy changes to benefit the ultra-wealthy.
Michiganders’ personal and economic security will always be Elissa’s guideposts, and will continue to drive her work in the Senate.

United States Senators often keep on fundraising after their election ends, but Elissa doesn't want to keep bombarding your inbox with fundraising requests.
What we will do is send you good, timely content - like this message. Stuff you might open without dread.
But she does hope you may consider making a small, monthly recurring contribution. Even just $5 or $10 - so we don't have to send those mass fundraising emails while Elissa is focused on her work as a Senator.
