Content Warning: This email discusses a murder
On Monday, four police officers murdered George Floyd in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Yet another Black man killed because of how he showed up in the world.
Today, I am joining my sisters-in-service, Ilhan, Rashida, and Alexandria, in support of two Minnesota-based organizations doing vital community organizing and to dismantle systems of oppression, fight police brutality, and pursue racial justice.
If you can afford to, will you join Ilhan, Rashida, Alexandria, and me in the fight for accountability and justice by splitting a donation between Black Visions Collective and Reclaim the Block today? Both of these organizations are doing vital, on the ground work to build more just and equitable communities.
The four officers who killed George Floyd must be charged with murder, but we must also recommit once again to continue the work of dismantling the racist, broken institutions — like our criminal injustice system — that allow brutality to run rampant in our communities.
Together, Ilhan, Rashida, Alexandria, and I have set a goal to raise $50,000 for the Black Visions Collective and Reclaim the Block, to support their fight for racial justice in Minnesota.
Together, we will continue to organize and fight for justice and accountability. Thank you for your solidarity.
Sincerely,
Ayanna Pressley
