John, our NHS is in crisis and new Liberal Democrat research exposes just how bad things have become.
A record 20 million people waited four weeks or more to see a GP last year - a staggering 60% increase since 2018. Patients faced waits of over two weeks 67.1 million times!
Please share our findings on social media so people understand why bold action is now essential: | | With GP access so limited, more people are turning to A&E, piling pressure on already overstretched emergency care. Last year, 518,000 patients endured trolley waits of 12 hours or more, which may have contributed to thousands of excess deaths.
And there’s pressure across every aspect of the NHS.
We found that, in December alone, nearly 400,000 people used urgent care or visited their GP, when they could, because their usual pharmacy couldn’t fill their NHS prescription; 269,000 took no action at all, potentially putting their health at risk.
And people are losing faith in the system. Our latest polling found one in five believe their local hospital is unsafe due to issues like rat infestations, collapsing roofs, and sewage leaks. | | These shocking findings lay bare the grim reality millions are suffering through on a daily basis. Communities have seen their local health services abandoned with many stuck in limbo, unable to get an appointment or even medication when they need it.
The Conservatives’ neglect brought us here, but as Ed Davey said in a video last week, Labour’s lack of ambition in rebuilding the NHS has been shocking.
In their latest NHS mandate, the government refused to back the Liberal Democrats’ call to give patients a legal right to see their GP in a week. Instead, they’re embracing a managed decline of the health service, and patients are bearing the brunt of these failings.
