President Trump, in exchange for hundreds of millions in campaign spending, has given Elon Musk an official White House email address, office space, and access to the inner workings of our government through his made-up Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
Musk now has unprecedented access to the highest levels of government – without having to be confirmed by the Senate and follow ethical standards that all other federal employees must abide by. From attempting to cut off aid to millions of Americans to save him on his tax bill, to pressuring federal employees into quitting and replacing them with loyalists, Musk has facilitated some of Trump’s most destructive actions so far.
We are a democracy, not a corporation. An unelected billionaire unaccountable to the American people should not have the power to remake the United States as we know it.
