The bill looked doomed to fail due to Republican infighting and was pulled from the floor and then immediately brought back up for a vote ten minutes later. It's unclear what threats or bribes were made during those ten minutes, but Rep. Victoria Spartz, who had been a "hard no" just ten minutes earlier, and Rep. Warren Davidson, who spent the entire day saying he could not vote for the budget resolution, abruptly flip-flopped in favor. The budget-busting spending bill that would gut $880 BILLION from SNAP and Medicaid and send the deficit to the stratosphere now heads to the Senate. There's still a long way to go before this moral monstrosity becomes law, but it just cleared its first hurdle — and the astounding spinelessness of the so-called fiscal conservatives does not bode well for the future of this country. Democrats, fire up the advertising machine. This country needs to be blanketed in "YOUR REP JUST VOTED TO CUT MEDICAID" ads from now until next November.
