Email from Rep. Mann CongressMann Mail 02.25.2025 Message from Rep. Tracey Mann. Having Trouble Viewing? Click Here. Fellow Kansan, Thank you for subscribing to my newsletter. This week, I am in Washington, D.C. for committee hearings, floor activity, and votes. We are one month into President Trump's second term, and we are working around the clock to implement his agenda in the U.S. House of Representatives. For more information on what I'm working on this week, be sure to follow me on social media. I do not serve in Congress to be a caretaker in the slow demise of America— I serve to fight and work to make it stronger. That’s what I am doing while believing our brightest days are yet to come. Yours in service, Click below to follow me on social media. Mann.House.Gov The Week Ahead This week, House Republicans are working to execute President Trump's agenda and deliver on America's mandate. The U.S. House of Representatives will vote on a budget resolution to establish the budgetary levels for fiscal year 2026 through 2034. This resolution is the first step to unlock the reconciliation process. Under the resolution, the House will establish our budget blueprint to save Americans trillions of dollars by rooting out government waste, fraud, and abuse, and bolster our national security by investing in our border security, national defense, and energy production. Most importantly, it will ensure that we can make President Trump's tax cuts permanent and prevent a 22% tax increase on American families. The House will also consider legislation to roll back Biden-Harris era rules that stifle innovation, reduce domestic energy production, and increase energy costs for everyday Americans. The country made it clear, we need an all of the above energy approach that keeps American energy independent, not Green New Deal policies that handpick winners and losers. I will support both of those pieces of legislation on the floor this week to reverse anti-energy, eleventh hour rules from the Biden-Harris Administration. Despite the snow and cold temperatures, it was great to catch up with fellow Kansans and get my marching orders to represent you in Washington, D.C. During my town halls, you made it clear—Kansans want Congress to pass a five-year Farm Bill that fortifies crop insurance and provides certainty as they feed, fuel, and clothe world; secure the border that stops the trafficking of fentanyl, illicit drugs and vulnerable humans; and support President Trump's effort to rein in our national debt and limit wasteful, fraudulent, and abusive federal spending. I heard you loud and clear and could not agree with you more. You can stay up to date on my town hall schedule by following me on social media. Summer Internship Applications are Open! My first job on Capitol Hill was an internship with a Kansas congressman. Every year, I get the privilege to offer the same experience to students across the Big First. Working in Congress is a unique opportunity for students to learn about the impacts of public policy, the role congressional offices play in helping Americans on a daily basis, and to learn about the legislative process. The application for summer internships in my office is open, and the deadline to apply is March 7, 2025. If you know a college student who would benefit from a internship in my office, encourage them to apply today. Ending the Death Tax When families lose a loved one, they shouldn’t be burdened with a surprise tax or face the risk of financial insecurity for simply continuing the business of that loved one. Family farms and small businesses are the lifeblood of rural communities in Kansas. I cosponsored the Death Tax Repeal Act, which would permanently end the death tax in America. The death tax unfairly hamstrings grieving members of family farms and small businesses, like those in the Big First, making it nearly impossible to pass on legacies from one generation to the next. We need to make it easier, not harder, for these hardworking families to continue the work of their loved ones and contribute to the communities that depend on them. Visiting Washington, D.C.?
