Voter suppression laws remain blocked in Arizona

* In a victory for voters, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld ([link removed]) a ruling that blocked provisions of two Arizona laws seeking documentary proof of citizenship to vote in presidential elections. The Court called the challenged provisions “unlawful measures of voter suppression.”

Federal judge extends halt of Trump’s federal funding freeze

* A Washington, D.C. federal judge extended ([link removed]) a block on the Trump administration’s blanket funding freeze as litigation plays out. The order prevents President Donald Trump from carrying out the freeze using the same memo or a different directive.

Gov. Shapiro says over $2 billion of federal funding for Pennsylvania is unfrozen

* Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro (D) said ([link removed]) yesterday that the more than $2 billion in federal funding for his state has been unfrozen after he filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration.
* In the Feb. 13 lawsuit, Shapiro alleged that despite two different judges ordering the administration to unfreeze federal funding, access had not been restored.
* The congressionally-approved funding to Pennsylvania helps agencies in “protecting public health, cutting energy costs, providing safe, clean drinking water, and creating jobs in rural communities,” Shapiro said.

Federal judge blocks Trump policy allowing ICE to enter houses of worship

* A federal judge in Maryland blocked ([link removed]) the Trump administration’s plan to enable ICE agents to enter houses of worship for immigration enforcement actions. This ruling stems from a Democracy Forward lawsuit filed last month on behalf of a group of Quaker meetings.
