I Swore I Wouldn’t Treat My Youngest As A Baby Forever ([link removed])
I have two kids; my youngest is nearly 9. And yet I still find myself treating him like a little kid. Not because he acts young, but because I want to hold onto the innocence of the elementary years (I know what comes next; my oldest is a major tween).
So I get this piece about wanting to baby the youngest kids, just to hold on a bit longer. Samm Davidson writes, “With four kids, I have had someone in the baby and toddler phase for over ten years. I have spent countless hours snuggling, filling up tiny snack containers, cleaning up messes, and brushing teeth. For a decade I have been helping at least one person with simple tasks, sharing my lap, putting on shoes, and zipping up coats. And when you do something for that long, it becomes a part of your identity. And it has also been a stage of life that I have adored.” Maybe you can relate?

Nope
I'm A Room Parent, Not Your Child's Social Secretary ([link removed])
Honestly, I don’t know how room parents do it. I did it for one year when my oldest was in 1st grade and it nearly killed me. Now, to be fair, COVID hit that year and suddenly there were 8 million more emails to send about school than before. But still. Needless to say, I feel this older piece about the doom and gloom of being a room parent. Read it and weep.
