It’s Cori here. Trust me, between virtual events, call time with supporters, and our ongoing GOTV efforts, we stay busy on this campaign. Sometimes, it feels like we are already creating a better world just by connecting with voters and living the values of this campaign.

And then—life hits hard. This month alone, police officers across the country have killed multiple people. It’s been six years since we took to the streets in Ferguson, and little has changed. Saying #BlackLivesMatter is not a buzzword to me. It’s my reality.

That’s why today, I’ll be joining my Brand New Congress slatemates Isiah James and former candidate Morgan Harper to discuss why every part of our platform supports and uplifts our black communities. We need this conversation now more than ever, because representation without action is not good enough. To me, running for office as a black woman, an activist, and a survivor is a commitment to unapologetically living my truth. I won’t be silenced, and I won’t be intimidated.

Change happens when we make it happen. That means voting black activists, nurses, educators, trailblazers, and public servants into Congress.

This is our moment. Let’s make 2020 our year!
