John, the attacks over Jane’s fiery speech at the SAG Awards started the second she stepped off the stage on Sunday night.
Fox News, right-wing pundits, and Trump’s goons all want the same thing: for us to sit down and shut up. They want us to stop fighting — for workers, the climate, democracy, and basic human decency.
But Jane’s not backing down.

John, let’s set the record straight.
When I took the stage last night to accept the SAG Life Achievement Award, I used my moment to speak about something bigger than Hollywood. I talked about workers’ rights. I talked about the strength of unions and community, and why we need more empathy — not less — in a world that’s trying to pull us apart.
In Donald Trump’s view, empathy is a weakness. Caring about others is something to mock. It’s “woke.” Well, I made sure to remind everyone watching:
Woke just means you give a damn about other people.
And predictably, the right-wing outrage machine is already losing its mind over it.
Good. Let them. Because we’re not backing down.
The truth is, if you care about the planet, about democracy, about your neighbors — you’re “woke” in their eyes. If you refuse to let billionaires like Elon Musk and corrupt politicians like Donald Trump strip away progress, you’re “woke.” If you’re willing to resist, they see you as “woke.”
Trump and Musk are terrified of movements like ours — of people who won’t back down and refuse to let billionaires and authoritarians decide the future for the rest of us. That’s why they attack. That’s why they lash out.
Because deep down, they know the truth: We are powerful.
Every time we organize and protest, we prove that this country doesn’t belong to the few at the top. It belongs to all of us. But only if we’re willing to fight for it.
