The Department of Homeland Security just placed on “administrative leave” key employees at the federal agency tasked with fighting election disinformation — the very group responsible for countering foreign attempts to spread falsehoods about our elections.

This move could put our election security at serious risk.

✅ Disinformation doesn’t spread on its own — bad actors, both foreign and domestic, create false narratives about election security.

✅ Without help from the Department of Homeland Security , there’s no national agency tracking these lies and alerting election officials like me about threats in real time.

✅ Foreign adversaries could ultimately have a free pass to spread false claims about our elections without fear of federal pushback.

Let me be blunt: When the federal government steps back, it falls to states like Minnesota to protect democracy.
