Elon Musk and DOGE are conducting mass layoffs across the country.
In Iowa, Veterans affairs counselors, USDA conservation officers, National Park Rangers, farmers, and energy researchers have all been affected.
More than 700 jobs at the USDA in Ames were impacted — many of which were studying environmental issues. Without these jobs, research and work in labs will be delayed or cancelled, and progress on how to fight against the bird flu outbreak will be halted.
And why do Trump and Musk want to cut these jobs? To give tax breaks to themselves, their billionaire friends, and corporations.
Not only are hard-working Iowans being abandoned by their government, but our environment is going to suffer. We have an obligation to protect our land and the people in it, and that’s why Iowa Democrats are on the front-lines ready to fight back.
