John,
Today, the House will vote on a budget that seeks to cut trillions of dollars from critical services in order to pay for even more tax cuts for billionaires and corporations.
Congress has its priorities backwards. When I vote no on this budget resolution today, I’ll be voting for a government that puts our communities’ needs over corporate and billionaire profits.
Instead of trillions of dollars in cuts to education, healthcare, nutrition, and housing, we should shift money out of the trillion-dollar annual military budget. For example, it would cost just $11 billion to end homelessness in the United States.
Join me by adding your name to demand Congress reject this budget, which steals from working people to pad the pockets of millionaires, billionaires, and corporations.
Thank you for standing alongside me in our enduring struggle for an economy and a society that puts people first, not billionaires.
With you in this fight,
Rashida

John,
Tomorrow, House Republicans are planning a vote on a budget that rips life-saving services away from our communities to pay for more tax cuts for their millionaire and billionaire donors.
This right-wing budget includes $330 billion in cuts to education―impacting Head Start, school meals, student loans, Pell Grants, HBCUs, and more. Head Start serves more than 800,000 children across the country, supporting early childhood learning, development, and health.
Already, the Trump administration’s federal funding freeze has resulted in several Head Start programs shutting down, with more at risk: 57 programs serving 21,000 children said they can’t access federal funding. I led my colleagues in the Congressional Mamas’ Caucus in sending a letter to Trump demanding the immediate restoration of Head Start funding, and together we must also fight back against these Congress-proposed attacks on public education.
House Republicans' proposed budget also includes $230 billion in cuts to nutrition assistance. While the details are still forthcoming, this will likely include reducing daily SNAP nutrition benefits from $6.20 to just $4.80, drastically limiting beneficiaries’ nutrition benefits if they can’t document a certain number of hours of work or show they’re exempt, or forcing states to cut benefits and implement waiting lists.
On healthcare, Republicans want to cut $880 billion from Medicaid, essentially defunding the whole program. This cruel proposal would kick tens of millions of people off of their healthcare by implementing red-tape requirements, reducing Medicaid expansion, or placing a cap on federal Medicaid aid for states. If passed, these cuts would kill thousands of people.
Take action today to demand Congress reject a budget that steals from working people to pay for more tax cuts for the rich.
The public must demand an expansion in life-saving services, not cuts that will kill thousands of our neighbors. For example, a recent report found that Medicaid expansion between 2014 – 2022 saved 27,400 lives.1 What happens when tens of millions of Medicaid recipients lose their healthcare coverage?
It’s unconscionable that Republicans are trying to force through a budget that will result in the deaths of thousands of people just to pay for more tax cuts for the rich and for Trump’s mass deportation agenda.
Meanwhile, our military spends nearly $1 trillion a year—about half of which directly lines the pockets of weapons corporations. Republicans want to increase the military budget, even though the Pentagon just failed its 7th straight audit. These Congressional priorities are backwards.
Add your name to demand Congress reject Republicans’ latest budget, which is a massive upward transfer of wealth from working people to the richest 1%. We must loudly oppose attempts to cut trillions of dollars in public services to pay for trillions of dollars in tax breaks for the ultra-wealthy.
Thank you for taking action today. I will never stop fighting for you and our communities.
In solidarity,
Rashida
