His administration just took an outrageous step to fast-track hundreds of dangerous fossil fuel projects—pipelines, power plants, and oil and gas terminals—under the guise of a phony “energy emergency.”
With a single executive order, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has gutted environmental oversight and paved the way for polluters to steamroll our communities and planet. Under this scheme, pipelines threatening our waterways, deepwater crude terminals off the Gulf Coast, and hazardous drilling projects in fragile ecosystems could all move forward with minimal public input or environmental review.
SEEC Member Rep. Jared Huffman — ranking member of the Natural Resources Committee — sounded the alarm on this months ago. He knew Trump’s allies were plotting a full-scale fossil fuel expansion with Project 2025, and he got to work educating his colleagues on all the various schemes proposed in that plan so they’d be prepared to fight back.
And now, the floodgates are open. This is exactly why we need more bold climate leaders in Congress like Rep. Huffman who will take on Big Oil and fight for a clean energy future.
Thanks to your help in 2024, SEEC PAC was able to re-elect over 95% of our pro-environment members to the U.S. House of Representatives — defying the odds on a night where Democrats lost seats. Now we are counting on you to help our SEEC members pass climate, clean energy and environmental justice policies in the 119th Congress while we continue fighting for a sustainable future.
