Team, Bernie Sanders is right.
Oligarchy has taken hold of our politics — that is, a political system where all power is in the hands of a small group of extremely wealthy individuals.
Just think back to Trump’s inauguration. Who did he have standing behind him as he took office? Not working class Americans.
It was Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, and Jeff Bezos. Three of the richest men in human history. Three men with much to gain from Trump’s policies. Three men who contributed millions and millions of dollars to Donald Trump’s campaign and inauguration.
And look at DOGE. The stated goal was to find ‘waste, fraud, and abuse’ in government spending. That’s something everyone can get behind in theory.
But in practice, DOGE is firing thousands of working class federal employees and slashing programs that benefit the most vulnerable Americans, all while protecting federal contracts that go to Elon Musk and his billionaire buddies.
The goal of the oligarchy forming in America today is to loot our nation’s pocketbook so they can amass even more wealth and power.
Republicans in Congress are already working to push through a new tax plan that would lower taxes for the super wealthy and corporations. And they’ve made it clear that they are willing to push cuts to Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security to pay for these tax cuts.
Literally taking from the poor and giving to the rich.
