Dear Jack,
It's not often the media leaves their comfort zone of being the
'Government cheer squad'. But this comment piece from NZ Herald
Political Editor Audrey Young is an exception to the usual spin.
Audrey is one of the few remaining old-school journos dedicated to her
craft and well worth reading. Highlighting the importance of
Accountability and Critical
Thinking, she writes:
"The best of the Opposition MPs
were National MP Michael Woodhouse and Act leader David
Seymour.
Seymour's contribution to the
Covid-19 crisis was impressive from the start.
He had the advantage of being in a
relatively secure position going into the crisis, with no incentive to
grandstand, and an ability to distil political principles from complex
situations."
ACT has just one MP, and he’s the top performer. In fact, the only
problem with ACT MPs is, there aren’t enough of them. Luckily, we just
announced 49 fresh, new candidates to change that, coming from small
business, farming and all walks of real-life experience. You can check
out our line-up of candidates on our
website. The media wants you think this is a simple 'blue vs red'
election. These people are standing up to say otherwise.
The best thing you can do right now to help change the debate is
forward this email to those who you think might
support us and tell them why you’re Backing ACT. We’re aiming for
100,000 votes this election — can you help us get there?
Thank you for all your help and support,
Yours sincerely,
Tim Jago
