Friend, happy Saturday. As you enjoy your morning coffee, I thought I’d share some thoughts on why we overperformed in 2024 and where we go from here.
In 2022, we won one of the most competitive districts in the country by 5.6 points, defeating a multi-term incumbent. In office, we focused on pragmatic leadership - holding 20+ town halls, securing $15 million for community projects, and introducing 12 bills to lower drug and education costs. We stayed above the chaos, worked with everyone, and delivered real results.
It showed. In 2024, we won by 9.2 points, outperforming the top of the ticket by 3.2 points. It took hard work - and a whole lot of your help.
Now, as we enter Trump’s second presidency, I’ve been thinking a lot about how we rebuild our party. And I keep coming back to this thought:
Hard work should be enough.
Today, the jobs that once sustained the middle class can no longer do so. Unions are weakened, and wealth inequality is at record levels. Corporate greed runs unchecked while regular people struggle. It’s a system rigged against the people.
We need to fix the tax code so the ultra-wealthy pay all of their taxes. We must restore competition, break up monopolies, and return power to the people - so hard work leads to a dignified life, not endless struggle.
That’s not all, of course. We must end voter suppression, get dark money out of politics, reform immigration, and protect individual freedoms - including reproductive and LGBTQ+ rights.
This kind of change won’t come easily. It will take leaders with courage, leaders who are willing to take on the status quo and fight for a future where the system works for all of us. But I’m committed to this fight, and I hope you are, too.
If you’re with me, please consider chipping in to our cause. Anything you can give – $5, $10, $25 – will help rebuild our party and build a future where hard work is enough.
More to come on this. Thanks for being in the fight.
Greg
