On Friday at a bipartisan meeting of governors, Donald Trump threatened to deny Maine school children federal funding unless we fall in line with his personal demands. He even stated that he was "the law,” never mind Congress or the states.

I told him we’d see him in court.

Trump campaigned on bringing down the price of eggs, bread, heat, housing and cars. Instead, one month in and he’s threatening to use the federal budget to punish his enemies.

I want to make one thing clear: Maine will not be intimidated by the President’s threats.

I was raised to be brave and to fight for what’s right. No matter the obstacles, I will always fight for the people of Maine.

We will not be bullied. But that means we need to build up our party here, at the local level. Our state is the frontline in the fight for democracy. There’s never been a more important moment to lean in and engage than right now.
