SCA's Lobby Day is March 11. This Thursday is the last chance to sign up! We need some lead time to set up your Capitol Hill meetings so Thursday is the deadline. We will be lobbying against this bill, the Educational Choice for Children Act, because it diverts tax money to organizations that provide school vouchers for private and religious schools.
The hotel we are using is booked up but that’s not a problem; we don’t actually have any events there. It’s just one of the convenient hotels on Capitol Hill. You can stay anywhere and meet us Monday night, the 10th, for a reception in the Rayburn House Office Building, and then in the same place Tuesday morning for our Lobby Day breakfast meet-up. We have a zoom meeting set up on Monday, March 3 to go over everything.
The best lobbyists are always constituents which is why we do this every spring. It helps us fight this bill and it helps us later in the year when we need to go back to your representatives on other issues. I was in a meeting yesterday when a staffer told us that the reason her boss is a member of the Congressional Freethought Caucus is because constituents asked her to join. (We will also ask House members to join the CFC.)
You can learn more about Lobby Day here and register. I hope you will.
