PFAW Supporter, "Did you see this? We still need your signature!" -----[previous message]----- Dear Supporter, Immigrant children who were forced into CBP and ICE custody have had to endure hardships like family separation, illegal denials of asylum hearings, and untreated medical conditions. Recent reports from earlier this month have indicated that Trump’s abysmal treatment of immigrants in detention facilities is even worse than we imagined. Children are being forced to spend long periods of time in conditions that lawyers have described as inhumane, unsanitary, and abusive. This is happening on Homeland Security officials’ watch and DHS must take responsibility and STOP these egregious human rights abuses from continuing! We still need your name to know that you’re as outraged about this as we are. Sign our petition now to demand humane and safe conditions for detained children!>> Earlier this month, a legal team toured an immigration detention facility and spoke to NPR about what they found. Although they were not allowed to take photos or videos, they managed to interview 60 children being held in custody and found their living conditions to be “worse than prison.” Reports emerged that children were wearing filthy clothes they were not allowed to change, had been forced to sleep on concrete floors, were denied adequate nutritious meals and often went hungry, and sometimes had to go weeks without showering or brushing their teeth. Forced to spend virtually all of his time in a room with no windows, one child reportedly stated that the highlight of his day was when he was able to go out into the hallway while the facility workers cleaned his cell. There are also major issues with overcrowding, illegally holding minors for extended periods of time, and ongoing reports of abusive behavior by guards. This treatment is absolutely unacceptable and must be stopped immediately. Add your name now to demand justice for migrant children!>> Thanks for everything you do.
